Pick Three - Two Singles & A Video: December

The third installment of this editorial, Today Chi-City Hip Hop brings you an end of the month segment called "Pick Three". This is an opinion segment, where a writer picks three post, from the current month, that stood out to them or that's been added to a playlist and have it on repeat. I don't like long lists so we're just picking three, its that simple.

In no particular order, each month's post will hold three singles, sometimes all mixtapes, maybe all videos, or two singles and mixtape, etc etc.

Check it out below and let me know your three.

John Walt - Kemo Walk
Walt has shown he likes to switch it up, bringing us tracks we could possibly move to and more calmer tracks. Chicago's bop scene hits like any dance craze, a fun movement that has brought people together. "Kemo Walk" was a song featured on John Walt's latest free project "Get Happy 2.0", in which he insisted on doing one of the Bob King movements. A little more energetic than some of his other record "Kemo Walk" will have you participating in some light bopping. This production, handle by DJ Damage and Walt smooth auto tune raps made this definitely a notable record to enjoy.

Vic Mensa ft. Chance The Rapper - Suitcase
When two of SaveMoney's more notable rappers teamed up you're going to expect something good. Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper have been busy with their own careers, touring and working on material, but at some point found time to put together "Suitcase". Like Goten and Trunk these two on a track is enjoyable but still on their business by bringing us a great record. Cam Osteen keeps us in a trans with a haze of waves with this production as we experience life through these two living out of a suitcase.

Mick Jenkins - Martyrs (Video)
It's not simply the fact that he brings us multi-layered songs, but also a video that only makes the record even better. Mick Jenkins brought to everyone, "Martyrs", a song at first listen can be mistaken at the usual brag filled, money, cars, hoes, clothes, raps. But as you listen he gives you a deeper thought as to why the chorus is what it is, bringing to the forefront the many delusions portrayed in today popular music. The video was a wow factor, featuring him and other with nooses around their necks, which if you didn't understand the point when simply listening, then you understand it now. Production from OnGaud keeps your head nodding in enjoyment as 5 Pound Media direct the story of the visual.
