The Mash Talks With Taylor Bennett

Written by high school students, for high school students, the publication The Mash recently had the opportunity to sit and talk with Taylor Bennett. They touch on topic from college ambitions, Taylor's start as a rapper, best of living in Chicago, and more.
"I started off freestyling, so it started from pens and pencils at the lunch table, making beats that the teachers hated. Just trying to outdo anybody and any competitor. I was super competitive when it came to proving how good I was with my musical talent. … A couple months later I started writing actual music. … I’d have like a halfway finished verse and I used to think it was a whole song. I’d print it out and bring it to my friends at school, pass it out (and) try to see what they thought about it. … And my mom was like, “Why are you using all this ink? It’s not cheap!” And I was like, “Mom, you don’t know!” - Taylor Bennett for The Mash
