The end of January 2016 is here, the first month of the new year come to a close. But no different from 2015, we're bringing you our monthly picks of video, single and projects that are recommended. Scroll below and checkout what we're highlighting.
brandUn DeShay - Had Em All (Video)
DeShay delivered a new video that brought us a combination of influences creatively put together. There was never an expectation for the video to be something simple, but the route taken was definitely a interesting one and looks very fun. The song and video is at a complete distance, where he delivers plenty references of his home town he opted to shoot in Japan. Knowing only so many of the characters and anime/game references before researching it, this is a visual that grabs a hold your attention and brings you back to childhood interest to current loves of art to the discovery of things new.
G Herbo - L's (Video)
This month Herb dropped a video for the track that opens up his latest project "BLIK". Full of scenes that tell the story of the song, its shot in black and white adding a certain atmosphere to it. As a rapper who presents a street image, he's sometimes lumped in as a Drill artist, which is always a inaccurate description that can lower ones expectation. This visual was a big step up from previous ones, as we get imagery focused around the realities he's personally face that brings to light what goes on in many neighborhoods in Chicago.
The Boy Illinois - Day Goes (Video)
Also one of my favorite songs, early in the month we got the video for "Day Goes" from The Boy Illinois. Illi continues to showcase his style of dress, presenting a air of confidence through his attire as well as his raps. This was a feel good track that can definitely bring people together, combined with the visual addition, as well as different art forms. He gets professional tap dancer to kick off the video, doing a little dancing himself. This visual was fun to watch so get up and dance to the rhythm of the beat.
